Snowshoes du bois de la Chouette

It all started in 2007 with my husband's birthday gift of a very young snowshoe kitten. I had never heard of that breed and I made lot of research on the topic. Meanwhile, I discovered the beautiful personality of Snowshoe cats and I fell in love right away with my little darling Cho-Chen. Being already the happy owner of several home cats, all neutered, I somehow hesitated to get her operated. I thought "it would be nice to let her bear kittens at least once, before being neutered"... Then, I started looking for a Snowshoe stud in France... For 3 years, I made inquiries, posted on websites, let announcements in Vet's clinics all over France without any result!!! There was a breeder in the center of France but they stopped breeding most of their cats, Snowshoes included... So, I had to reconsider my first idea and started looking for a male, to purchase, this time. But that meant that I had to keep Cho-Chen as an active breeding Queen, at leat for a while... It was not so easy, and rapidly, I had to cross the border to find the precious Snowshoe cat I was looking for... Then my luck turned, Kate Bailey answered my prayer and proposed a lovable, beautiful kitten born in april 2010... And on top of it, the exact same type than Cho-Chen, a seal point bicolor, what a stroke of luck!!! I went to fetch Teddy in the fall, in a very tiny village in Devonshire. I spent most of my night looking for the right house, but, my God! it was worth it!!!! I will never thank Kate and her husband enough fot the heart warming welcome they gave me in the beutiful Snowshoe house they live in!!! Now I have started a family cattery called in French " From the owl's wood" as a reference to my profession (I an a falconer and breed several species, among them, rare owls... Our falconry center is in a God forsaken place in the middle of the woods!!!) My first kittens were born on March 1st 2011, a painful delivery due to partly large kittens and to the 1st born, palate-less, a difficult condition for her future life that the vet advised us to put her to slleep... Both the second litten, a large boy "Galahad", delivered naturally and the third, a girl "Guenièvre" born though cesaerian after 10 hours withaout any contractions for the mother, both were doing well, having obviously inherited from their Dad a voracious appetite... For 3 weeks they staid in my bed (hence my husband still in the guest room!!!) At 6 weeks, they were little devils, not yet jumping on tables but short of it!!! Full of life and affectionate, they seeked our company and loved to cuddle on our lap... I posted a few little videos, Visistors, if you are not french fleunt, you will enjoy them all the same!!! Now they are gone to their new home and we missed them like hell I did had to count the monthes till the following winter, when my Darling CHo-Chen would breed again...  And it happened, on january 30th, she delivered very easily this time 4 healthy boys : Harry, Halloween, Hooligan and Hobbit... Once again, my house is turned into havoc and we love it!!!You may call me or write e mails in english, german, italian, or spanish, and oh yes, in french, of course!!!
